OK, I'm looking at the upgrade now. The only wibble is that when I
installed Xorg-6.8.2 as per BLFS 6.1 I uncommented "#define FontDir
/usr/share/fonts" in host.def . This isn't an option in Xorg-6.9.0 as
per BLFS-dev - instead you install them elsewhere and symlink them
into /usr/share/fonts instead. I *really* don't want multiple
versions of the fonts sitting around - maybe I should just reinstate
"#define FontDir /usr/share/fonts"? Or will that break something
else?
No, that's fine. I wouldn't move them around at this point unless you
want to rebuild some other stuff that depends on the fonts location.
It's more a preference. Read this section for some justification for
keeping the X fonts out of /usr/share/fonts:
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/x/x-setup.html#xft-font-protocol
Actually, it could probably be done pretty easily, but I wouldn't
bother with it for now.
