Ok, thanks to Matthew, I fixed it.  It's for the libX11 package.  Only the book 
does state to include --without-xcb switch but I just didn't read beyond the 
point to which I got the error.

What specific package are you trying to install, and do you have libxcb
(and xcb-proto) installed? The current BLFS instructions list this as an
optional package, but I think it's actually required for Xorg 7.2...
