FYI I just sucessfully built my os, including cdrtools, with the actual kernel headers instead of the linux-libc-headers package. The relevant package versions I have on my system include the following:
Binutils 2.18 Linux 2.6.22 Glibc 2.6.1 Gcc 4.2.1 Also, I've built about 120 other packages, most (but not all) of which are from the current stable blfs book. I had to add a few sed commands and update my nfs package. I scripted/documented everything so let me know if anyone/you wish to repeat the process.
