Just forget the compatibility symlink. It's not needed for anything 
built from source.

Not the current instructions. No one but Randy ever replied when I asked 
about feedback and explained how to solve this and similar problems. The 
problem is MesaLib itself, not the other parts of Xorg.

Summary: libdrm, MesaLib and FreeGlut (not really necesary) shouldn't be 
installed anywhere but in /usr. Those are not part of Xorg, those are 
independent projects. Xorg just depends on them to provide 3D stuff.

And alas, sane users will install Xorg in /usr, otherwise it is a waste 
of time ...
