I used to do that regularly, but it takes such a long time. Over the last couple of years I've been lucky with kernel upgrades by using my existing .config and just adding some necessary drivers, where appropriate. Although, in order to avoid using an initrd I am now having to hack each new kernel to stop the rootfs being mounted too soon, Now, it seems, the time has arrived to plod through the whole kernel config tree again. Thanks Paul. Richard
