Look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log to see if anything looks unusual.

Here is the closest the LFS system gets to detecting the keyboard:

[ 9526.770] (II) config/udev: Adding input device Corsair Corsair M40 Gaming Mouse (/dev/input/mouse0) [ 9526.770] (II) No input driver specified, ignoring this device.
[ 9526.770] (II) This device may have been added with another device file.

On the original host system there is lots of this:

[ 12.290] (II) config/udev: Adding input device unspecified ErgoDox
ergonomic keyboard (/dev/input/event21)
[ 12.290] (**) unspecified ErgoDox ergonomic keyboard: Applying InputClass
"evdev keyboard catchall"
[ 12.290] (II) Using input driver 'evdev' for 'unspecified ErgoDox
ergonomic keyboard'
[ 12.290] (**) unspecified ErgoDox ergonomic keyboard: always reports core
events
[ 12.290] (**) evdev: unspecified ErgoDox ergonomic keyboard: Device:
"/dev/input/event21"
[ 12.290] (--) evdev: unspecified ErgoDox ergonomic keyboard: Vendor 0x1d50
Product 0x6028
[ 12.290] (--) evdev: unspecified ErgoDox ergonomic keyboard: Found keys
[ 12.290] (II) evdev: unspecified ErgoDox ergonomic keyboard: Configuring
as keyboard
 [ 12.290] (**) Option "config_info"
"udev:/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb6/6-4/6-4:1.0/0003:1D50:6028.0005/input/input24/event21"
[ 12.290] (II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "unspecified ErgoDox
ergonomic keyboard" (type: KEYBOARD, id 11)
 [ 12.290] (**) Option "xkb_rules" "evdev"
 [ 12.290] (**) Option "xkb_model" "pc105"
 [ 12.290] (**) Option "xkb_layout" "gb"

That makes me suspect udev (it is responsible for adding the devices right?)

Thanks

Max
