I don't see why you couldn't.

Or would that just be asking for trouble? Is a firewall really needed? I do 
not do any online banking etc.

yes definitely a requirement with todays viruses as distructive as they are. 
I should know, I got a worm on my system just from downloading music from 
winmx.  It was a trojan horse level 5 virus.

I use it and it's fine now that I don't download music or any of that.  My 
problem with Norton stuff is yes it's really top-of-the-line but it's slow 
as anything and it slows your computer down considerably.
