Hi there,
I've seen some instances where the drive will not be recognized even though 
the computer has been rebooted. In this case, the best option would be to go 
to Device Manager, locate the drive, then use Uninstall to "temporarily 
remove" the drive. If Windows says that it cannot recognize it, then it is 
time for hardware inspection - checking for severed cords, damaged pins, 
etc.
