Will have to try it out a bit more, but the only possible issue with using
the right mouse button key would be that it would normally have a slightly
different end result since in some applications if you drag/drop using right
button it would bring up a form of context menu at the end of that process
where something like paste might be there, but not always.

Hi Jacob
I had to drag and drop for my college course, trust me, if jaws doesn't
speak while dragging, you haven't a clue where you are or even where the
location is to where you are dragging to.
I accidentally found out if you substitute the right mouse button instead
of the left, jaws actually seeks as you drag.
so it is the same combination of jaws key plus left or right mouse button,
and or, jaws key, ctrl and right or left mouse button.
this is a bit of trial and error and to be quite honest, a pain and very
frustrating to say the least.
the right mouse button is the star, to the left of the jaws cursor, just
in case you didn't know. *smiles*
Thanks
Elaine

I think the second keystroke combination bypasses needing to use the jaws
cursor as such.
My only problem with it was that I specifically wanted to try dragging
and dropping controls onto a windows application form in visual
studio.net while doing some programming work, and it didn't seem to work,
but that could also be a script issue of sorts, and found another
workaround for now anyway.

Hi, Jacob. Yes, jaws does support a version of drag and drop. I've
never had to do ti but insert left mouse button does lock the mouse
button. You do have to use the jaws cursor to drag a file to where you
want it to go.

Depending on your screenreader, jaws does support a version of drag and
drop
using the jaws cursor, but it's something I haven't really tested yet,
but
here's some relevant info from the jaws help:
Left Mouse Button Lock (INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH)
This command simulates pressing down the left mouse button and holding
it.
Once pressed, the JAWS cursor can be moved with the arrow keys. JAWS
will
not speak until INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH is pressed again to unlock the
left
mouse button. This command can be used to drag items from one location
and
drop them in another.
Apart from that bit of info, the following is actually the keystroke
they
say you should use:
Drag and Drop CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH
I think it automatically starts dragging whatever you're currently
focused
on, and then when you're in the place you want it to go to, you hit it
again, and it'll drag/drop that object/item there.
Try turning on your keyboard help using jaws key + number row 1, and
hit
that key combo twice and it'll give you a bit of better description.
This is all assuming you're using a new enough version of jaws.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] What is keyboard equivalent for "Drag &
Drop"
Hello all.
I recently purchased a talking Ipod and have had limited success with
it.
I have not been able to figure out how to put files in to a given
playlist.
I know this can be accomplished by dragging a file and dropping it in
to
the desired playlist but I can't figure out the keyboard equivalent.
Cutting and pasting doesn't work. I have tried everything I can think
of
with no success.
If anyone can help me out I'd sure be appreciative.
Thanks.
Pete
