I have just figuref out what was wrong probably.
I had installed the new jaws but not gotten rid of some all traces of the
old one. So it probably had to do with some shared components that were
still left on my computer.
I have gotten rid of all traces of shared compnants and installed jaws 9 new
and then a clean install of open book. Now it is working again. What a
relief!

Wow that's weird, I am using Open Book with the latest of Jaws with no
problems..
