Hi Marilyn,
If it was in the system tray, chances are it is set to load at startup,
which means it will be back when you re-boot the machine.
You can un-install it from Add/Remove programs in the control panel.

Rick, it appeared only in the system tray so to get rid of QuikTime I went
to the context menu and hit "exit."  Now it is gone from the system tray,
hooray.  Thanks.  marilyn
