This problem can be approached in a couple of ways. If you have all the time
in the world and have the next couple of days to read various manuals and
on-line information, then you might want to follow-up on your line of
thinking. If you want to be up and on your feet as quickly as possible, I
suggest simply reformatting and installing Windows XP from scratch on C
drive. The key question here is do you have sighted help or not. If so, then
simply reformatting is the way to go. All this given that you have a full
Windows XP installation disc and a way of backing up current data such as an
external HD. This reformat idea is probably something you should do anyways
as you may have been using the same computer since windows 98 without
reformatting. When you reformat you will find your computer is a lot
snappier. Look into a piece of software called Image for Windows from
Terrabyte inc. This piece of software will allow you to create an image of
your hard drive so if your computer ever crashes you can install the image
without sighted help and you'll be right back where you left off in about an
hour. Even your jaws authorizations and all other software authorizations
will be kept intact.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] deleting one operating system
Hi friends , I have two operating systems on my machine, Win 98 on the C
drive and Xp on the D Drive. Now I want to get rid of 98, How do I go
about it? If I simply format the C drive will the D drive automatically
become the C drive, or will it complicate things?
Thanks.
