I guess I'm lucky to be living in Norway. To be honest I don't know if this Braille display is very old or less common. I see myself as an intermediate Braille reader, I have just been reading Braille for 1.5 years. I love Braille and find it very useful combined with speech and hope to improve my reading capabilities. The Papenmeier display was recommended by the local authorities and I said ok give me one of those. I was in a hurry and eager to begin reading. But as I understand I should be able to replace it with another Braille display if I encounter problems... I not quite sure how to express/explain this in English... I would also consider dumping Freedom scientific's Open book and going with K1000--I did this and have never regretted it.
