Can't remember/don't know if it still works, but there was a keyboard shortcut to get jaws to render an error/issue report - don't know if it still exists or what the keystroke was.

My standard test to see if still running is to hit left shift key 5 times to bring up sticky keys dialogue, since it's sharp noise it comes up with is also my way of making sure sound hasn't been muted as such.

If jaws actually crashes or hangs, you might be able to find something in windows error logs, but not too sure how useful that would be either.

Stay well

Hi,
It's depends on the situation.
1. Sometimes, when I press task manager it'll start speaking, but after
switching back no.
2. Sometimes, when I press task manager it'll start speaking, but after
switching back yes.
3. Most of the time it'll not speaking til 30 seconds and I'm not waiting
longer :D.
The applications were as an example only. It's pity, that JF doesn't have
something like WindowEyes error reporting or does it?

If you just wait a while does it come back to life?

For example, in some slightly older versions of jaws I could open full text

file eBooks in internet explorer and read them there using it's bookmark
functionality, but from around jaws 10 onwards, it almost seems to hang up
a
bit while populating it's virtual buffer, but once or twice, if I just wait

long enough it'll come back to life.

Also think it might be carrying out something mildly similar in a large PDF

document.

OTOH, know very little about lotus notes FWIW.

Stay well

Subject: [Blind-Computing] jaws stop speaking

Hi,
When I run some application sometimes it's Acrobat Reader, sometimes
Lotus,
Jaws will stop speak, braille cursor will stop moving, but in the Task
Manager I see jf.exe as a process, which I must kill and run Jaws again.
Any ideas?
Working in XP Pro.
