Hello Rick;

yes I totally agree,
I wasn't sure, at first that,
   Yvonne was using a non windows sound choice.

so, Yvonne,

try the following;

1, navigate to the folder, or, the sound file you wish to use for your email notification.

2, once you've found the file, highlight and copy to clipboard.

3, go to desktop,

4, enter on my computer,

5, enter on local disc "c",

6, press the letter "w", until you hear windows, press enter.

7, press the letter "m"=media, press enter.

8, now paste the file from clipboard.

you should see the new sound file in the list.
alt+f4 to close.

now, to change the email notification sound in your sound scheme,
do the following;

example;  you got post
   >

1, start menu,

2, s=setting, then enter on control panel.

3, s=sounds&audio, press enter.

4, ctrl+tab=sounds tab

5, now tab until you hear,
tree-view, you should be at the top of the list.

6, down arrow until you hear,
new mail notification,

>> 7, now tab to browse, and press enter.

8, now tab until you hear,
chimes.wav

9, now arrow down until you hear,
  yougotpost.wav
or, what ever the name of the sound is;

10, now tab, and spacebar on, play button,

if this is the sound you wish to have,
you need to enter on the okay button,
then again, tab and enter on the okay button, this will add the sound to your current sound scheme.

Hi David,
I would place the new sound in the Windows\Media folder along with the other event sounds for Windows.
Just a thought.
HTH,
Rick Justice

hello there;

okay, if you want to use a sound witch you've downloaded, or, have received from someone,
example;  you got post

then, you would follow steps,
1 through 7,

now, when you browse, you would look for the folder which has the sound.
open the folder,
highlight the sound, now, you can associate this sound with the email notification,

hope this helps.

if your unable to get this, then, I'll provide other steps.

Hello there;

I'm assuming you want the,
notify.wav, instead of the new mail notification.

1, start menu,

2, s=setting, then enter on control panel.

3, s=sounds, press enter.

4, ctrl+tab=sounds tab

5, now tab until you hear,
tree-view, you should be at the top of the list.

6, down arrow until you hear,
new mail notification,

i>> 7, now tab to browse, and press enter.

8, now tab until you hear,
chimes.wav

9, now arrow down until you hear,
notify.wav,

10, now tab, and spacebar on, play button,

if this is the sound you wish to have,
you need to enter on the okay button,
then again, tab and enter on the okay button, this will add the sound to your current sound scheme.

hope this helps.
