hi mike
been and done that but still can't open attachment
do i need to restart the computer in order for changes to take effect?
and to jog my memory what key combinations are used to open attachments

Hi Yvonne;

Try the following;
1. While in OE with no messages open, press control, shift, + O, for
options.  You can also press Alt + T, for tools, then press the letter O,
for options.
2. Control + Tab to the Security page.
3. Now, tab 2 times or until you get to " Do not allow attachments to be
saved or opened that could potentially be a virus ."
4. If this box is checked, press the spacebar to uncheck it, tab to okay, &
press enter.

 for some unknown reason since yesterday when i get an email that has an
attachment i am no longer able to open the attachment
 all that happens is i get the bing sound that windows produces when a
command can't be executed.
 i press insert a and i tried alt a but none of these have any affect
 can someone tell me how i can get back to outlook express being able to
open attachments?
 i know these have attachments because they are a daily update
 this also applies to voicemail messages that i get
