Ivonne. Here is a link that will answer absolutely all of your new user
questions:
http://www.nvda-project.org/wiki/Documentation

Take some time to listen to this:
http://media.libsyn.com/media/bct/bct1398NVDADemo.mp3

By the way, it took me about 30 seconds to gather this information using
Google. I've never used NVDA but still successfully answered all of these
easily answered questions via simple searches.

it out
but what about installation is there a straight install for example self
extracting exe files or do i have to get it installed another way
once this is answered i should then be able to go and download it from one
of the previous posts to the list

No you don't ever need to do that
just open the program you wish to speak to you like jaws and then when you
desire the other provided you have a hot key for it
shut jaws down and use the hot key for your other speech to start.
For instance I use jaws 11 to help others with this same so I open jaws 11
and then use the insert f4 to shut down this jaws. now I use the hot key
for jaws 12 and boom it is there. then I shut down jaws 12 and use control
alt s and use system access as well. never shutting down my computer once

hello Gerald
thank you for replies
to save clutter of traffic i will answer both now
1 n v d a, you have a point there so i shall go ahead and install n d v .
a then if disaster strikes with jaws like you said i will still have a
screen reader and of course i can always delete it if not to my liking.
but if it takes no room at all and does no harm while not in use then i
may
as well leave it there.
i do pose one question though when i restart my computer will jaws still
be
the default reader?
and how do i switch from one to the other and back again.
do i have to restart the computer each time for example restart once to
get
jaws restart again to get n d b a and restart a third time to get back to
jaws?

2 sticky keys
i thought that was what it was but needed to make sure first of all
hopefully it is not too slow
i only really want it for use on skype talking 9 for such things as
preference changes reading of voicemail and things like changing mood text
and online status
so no real need to be extra fast there
thank you for your help

Once you install NVDA, it's a good idea to keep it as a backup in case
JAWS crashes. This way, if you ever lose speech, you can just press the
hot key for NVDA to launch it so that you can determine the problem.
Also, NVDA is useful for navigating web sites that JAWS may have trouble
with. You can always uninstall NVDA if you don't like it.

No, you don't have to worry about NVDA overwriting JAWS. You can use
both screen readers on the same computer.

hi
not Anne but what happens if i download the n v d a?
will it overwrite jaws?
the reason i ask is because i would only want to test it for a day or
two then decide.
but if i decide not to have it i don't want jaws to disappear
thank you

Hi,
I cannot remember the name of free software or where to get the
download?
I am at a different location and I want to test this software. I
think it
is something like
ndvh.org
but cannot remember.
Thanks,
Ann
