Does the laptop work properly if the battery is completely removed? If
not, the adapter is failing. Otherwise, you probably need a new battery.

There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any
real substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I
am working on things that matter.

Sounds like a battery issue. I had a vista laptop and after 4 years, when it
was connected, it wouldn't charge and just sit there for a while. I am
having current problems with my battery right now with my current laptop
where it will sit there at a certain percentage for a while and when I take
the battery out and put it back in and it starts charging.
Now I need to save up 150 bux to get a battery from hp. Lol

Hello Tom. 5 years is a very respectable age for a laptop let alone a
battery for one. I think the Batteries best days are behind it.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] laptop AC adapter error
My Dell laptop is about 5 years old.
Recently we have been getting the error message that we have the wrong AC
adapter plugged in.
However, it is the same adapter that came with the machine.
And it is apparent that it is feeding power to the computer, because the
screen is much brighter when it is plugged in.
Could this simply be a sign that the battery is weak?
The computer does not last very long off the AC adapter, and sometimes
won't boot up at all if it is disconnected from the adapter.
Any thoughts you have would be welcome.
Blessings,
Tom
