I get the MAC (*Media Access Control or *physical address) addresses directly from the router's web interface. If you can find a button for DHCP Table, it will show a table of all currently connected devices. On my latest router, I found this information by pressing the DHCP Reservation button. The advantages of this are that you can cut and paste addresses (the table shows up in a new window), and it provides all currently connected devices. Devices can be Android phones, Roku boxes, PlayStation3, PCs, Mac, and any other connected devices. Some of these, I would not know any way how to find their MAC address. If you turn MAC filtering on, I would not want my DirecTV DVR not to be able to connect.

I see my error now. I was looking for MAC address and didn't realize that
physical address meant the same thing, thanks again.

I did that the other day using that exact command and must have glossed
right past it, thank you. I am sure of one thing and that is my 7 system is
ready for IPV6.

Ipconfig /all

And look for Physical Address.
Something like this: Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx
That's the MAC address.

I am considering turning on MAC address filtering on my router but so far
haven't quite found where on the system they can be found. I have got the IP
address nailed down fine using IPCONFIG at the command prompt. Any tips will
be appreciated.

I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I'll probably screw that one up
too.
