Hi Shari, I was having so much good luck with the JAWS 13 beta that I deleted the JAWS 12 icon from my desk top. However, I looked up the program again put an icon back on the desk top and unloaded Jaws 13 from memory and loaded 12. Then I opened one of the documents in MS Word that I have been having troubles with. I selected all text and then went to the font settings as normal and there the times new roman settings were again. So, this is a JAWS 13 bug. The only one I have been able to find but somewhat distressing since my university likes a particular font and they are not very flexible about it. Thank you for your help and a big thanks to everyone who answered me.

Hi Mark, I haven't yet installed jaws 13. At work I use Jaws 12 and Word 2010. Times New Roman is in the font options, and all the attributes, including italics, work fine. I guess if you can't get the correct font, the italics probably won't matter, but what happens if you just select the text that needs to be in italics and hit control i?then check it with Jaws key f does jaws report the font is italicized or bold italicized? Can you just switch back to Jaws 12?
