For sure you can't distribute the different instruments sound in sepret
channels if it's a music file. You can only have the same mono sound in 2
channels.

That wouldn't be true stereo I don't believe. Sure you would get 2
channels
so to speak but it would not be a real stereo file.

What do you mean "not possible"?
Sure it's possible.
First you open the mono file and copy its contents to the clipboard.
Then you create a new file with two channels.
Then you copy the contents of the clipboard into your new file, and,
voila!
there's your stereo file.
