I remember you telling me that a couple of months ago, but since my system
falls on the side of having issues with windows mail I forgot about it,
thanks for reminding me.

I guess my statement should have been by default it won't allow you to
create identities.

Hi David,

There is a program that allows you to use identities in Windows Mail. The
information is below.

http://www.oehelp.com/WMIDs/Default.aspx

WMIDs (Windows Mail Identities) is a program that replaces the Outlook
Express Identities feature, which was removed when Outlook Express was
renamed and
updated to Windows Mail in Windows Vista. The program allows Windows Mail
users to have different Identities that impersonate users, while being
logged
onto the same user space in Vista. This program will only run in Windows
Vista and is only for Windows Mail.
Such a feature is useful for separating business from personal messages, as
well as for allowing different individuals to be able to segregate their
message
store and settings from other users, while being logged on to Vista as a
single user.

This capability is achieved by allowing each Identity to have its own
settings and message location. By switching between Identities, the user can
maintain
segregation of these settings and messages relevant to the particular
Identity.

The program allows the user to manage various Identities, so that Windows
Mail settings can be the same or different between Identities. Similarly the
user
can specify the same or different message store locations on a per Identity
basis.

If the user runs the program with command line parameters then it will start
Windows Mail with the designated Identity, allowing the user to create
shortcuts
to open Windows Mail under each Identity.

You can get the rest of the info about this program from the link above.
Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

Probably my client of choice would be some sort of collection between
outlook and outlook express with maybe a couple of other items tossed in
the
mix. Right now I am using outlook 2003 to write this on my windows 7
system
and it seems to work the best for my needs.

You can't setup identities in windows mail or in windows live mail
although
live mail creates separate inboxes for each email account you configure.
The
status line in live mail is something I can't seem to find at all which is
  quite strange.

Identities are quite easy in outlook express but you can do them in
outlook
but it does entail more effort.

Some systems have developed problems after enabling windows mail on 7 but
many have not and chug along happy as can be.

that is correct, I didn't mean to confuse anyone thinking I was using OE
on
win 7 here. It is a jaws issue, the email client is window's mail and jaws
  does announce this as well.

  Hi mr. Kumar.
No, Outlook Express does not work with Windows 7. Microsoft has created a
new e-mail program called Windows Live Mail.
It does work with Windows 7 but it is quite different in some respects
from
  Outlook Express.
The only program that I know which can be compared with Outlook Express
and
which will work with Windows 7 is Microsoft Outlook, itself.
However, this is not a free program. It is usually part of a suite of
  programs called Microsoft Office.
Independent versions are available for sale from Microsoft and from many
  retail stores.
