I do have them although they say for XP. It did not occur to me that they
would work in 7 which is what I thought Mike was using at this point.  

Since many command line arguments work it follows that some registry hacks
would work as well. Then again you know that I tend to direct people away
from there, it could be a bad place as you well know.

Actually you can, it is a registry hack.
You probably have them, look for these:

remove SHARE.REG

noshareddocuments.reg
I have used one or the other on all of my XP machines.

You can't remove them as they are system directories much like my documents
in XP.

When I go to My Computer I have 2 Icons, Shared Documents & Mike's Documents
below my list of drives.  Delete is unavailable from the context or file
menu.  How can I remove these 2 Icons?  All help will be graciously
