Hi Al,

I have bypassed the Real Tech onboard soundcard with a USB soundcard &
everything is working fine. I tried different speakers & soundcards & I
could get the RealTech card to work intermittedently but, it won't stay
working. I tried running Jaws through the USB soundcard & the system sounds
through the RealTech card & the RealTech would quit working. I then swapped
the system sounds to run through the USB soundcard & Jaws through the
RealTech card & everything would work for about 5 seconds then the RealTech
card would quit working. I only have 3 ports for my RealTech card & the
middle port is the correct port to use for sound if, it freakin worked! I'm
not sure if it's the jack or the RealTech card but, since they're 1 unit
it's getting replaced. Well, I'm just glad I had an extra USB soundcard & a
USB headset to get me through all this experimentation & testing. Even tech
support at Systemax think it's a soundcard issue after I explained
everything I tried to them. Thank you for your input. We wish you & yours
the Merriest of Christmas' and the Happiest of New Years.
Take care.
Mike

Did you accidently plug your speakers into the wrong jack? On mine
there are 6 jacks on the back and two in front panel. I mistakenly
plugged my speakers into the wrong one on the back and had a hell of a
time getting sound back. I ended up having to call their tech support.
According to my wife some box pops up on the screen showing it is not
connected correctly but even when we did we could not get sound back.
I was able to plug a USB sound device and get sound until we got the
problem figured out. Actually I continue to use the USB card on mine
as I think it sounds better

Hi All,

This is a test I did this morning. I plugged a different set of
speakers directly into my main computers onboard soundcard, bypassing
the audio part of the KVM switch &, I get no sound from either
operating system.
Does this
sound like a bad soundcard, or should I try checking something else?
I just
don't know what else to check!
Take care.

Hi Again All,

My main computer is a dual boot system running XP & Windows7. Well, I
don't
have any sound with either operating system! The Windows7 won't even
play
systems sounds through the USB headset but, the XP system does. Is it
possible the onboard soundcard died? Thanks much, take care.

Hi All,

I was saving some files when all of the sudden I lost all sound
through my
desktop speakers. I tried, with my wife's sighted help, to see if
anything
was muted in the control panel / Sounds & Audio Devices but,
everything
looked normal to me. I went to my other computer via my KVM switch &
the
speakers work with that computer. I can't get any sounds to play from
my
main computer at all! I am currently using my main computer with a
USB
headset. Any advice or suggestions on what to check would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you all very much.
Take care.
