Thanks for your reply. Part of the problem though of running older browsers is vulnerability to security issues. My last computer found its death by nasties that got in, not necessarily form a browser security hole. At any rate I'm not too in favor of leaving any holes if possible, even at the cost of some accessibility.
Firefox works "some of the time" without hanging, but it's unpredictable. I could try looking to see if I missed removing any add-ons other than my security software add-ons and see if that helps. I actually used Chrome today to finish placing my on-line business orders and it ran flawlessly ;D. Very responsive and stable. Explorer crashed no less than 5-times in a half an hour. I use to swear by Firefox, my wife too. She was directed by the IT department at work to use Chrome as it is the most secure and stable at this point. Granted she is sighted, but I know there are folks using screen readers with Chrome, apparently successfully. My problem is that a lot of code is written so that as soon as you move down with the arrow key, it makes that first selection your choice automatically and sends you off to whatever that choice is. I would like to go up and down through those lists without it making a selection automatically so I can see all of the choices before selecting one on my own.
