ah folks, balloons are accessible when they occur if you can immediately hit the left mouse butt keys on your computer (don't know if your on a desktop, a laptop with a desktop keyboard or a laptop keyboard)
if not you should be able to find the java update in your system tray if you have display all items turned on for the tray and you go there directly after the balloon shows up.
