Yep, found it almost from the start. Fought all the tamers, and I'm in
the second area, having gone through one gate. That's where I'm lost.

Slide north away from it and then you have to line up so when you slide back

I've been circling around and through this patch of ice forever. I have just
found the Snow Rescue suit. There's a patch of ice to my east and the empty
chest just a little southwest of my location. . Can someone tell me if I am at
least heading in the right direction or have I been sliding around, using up
all of my Encounter Downs, in the totally wrong area for more than an hour? Is
there a general direction I should slide or walk from where I am now, a certain
path I should follow, etc.
