Why not try going into the cartographer's guild then type guild advance and 
see what happens after that?  Certain guilds have prerequisites to joining 
like the ahchemists guild.  In alteraeon if you type help guild a list of 
commands will appear.  You need to experiment with the commands to find out 
what does what and what doesn't yet work yet.  Using help random when 
recovering and resting can teach you much.  The guild advance command isn't 
documented as a way to join guilds but it does work in the cartographers guild.
