I agree with your ideas and would love it if something like that existed. The games could still be adventures. Many of the original text adventures relied on being able to interact with objects.
I gave a presentation about this system the other day to a group of kids, and the one thing they kept asking was what the name of the system was. It occurred to me then that if this is supposed to be a console, it probably should have a name, not just the name of the company. I wonder if that's in the works?
