I may be at a slight advantage here. I own an Audigy 2 ZS Gamer Soundcard that supports 3d audio. Because of this, I was actually able to play this demo just fine with headphones. That's right, an option in my sound card's configuration specifically uses the full capabilities of 3d audio while using headphones.
