You know, I think that part of the problem is lack of awareness in the mainstream, sighted world, that there are Blind people who enjoy gaming. Most of the sighted people I've met, when they think of gaming, they think of highly graphical games, like Dance Revolution or Grand Theft Auto and the like, and they automatically assume that people who can't see wouldn't be interested in gaming. We need to change that perception big time.
Anyway, what'd be really cool, I think, would be to have a blind gamers' and accessible games area incorporated into a mainstream gaming convention. I've never been to one, so I have no idea what gaming cons are out there at which such a thing might be done. I just got to thinking about how, recently here in my home city we had an anime and gaming convention, and I thought how awesome it would be to have a blind gamers' presence at something like that too. Anybody else get what I mean? ----- Original Message ----- From: "shaun everiss" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 17, 2006 12:08 AM Subject: Re: audyssey: Excuse me, I LOVE GAMES > One day that will happen. > The day where the media decide we are not the poor blind, this is already > happening. > The day where mainstream companies either think it worth while to make > their games accessible or that blind and sighted companies work together > to make a good cooperation type thing. > And more opensource projects to. > For now, we are the poor blind, and must remain such in the eyes of some > until that day arives, when ever that will be. > Its close. > Opensource projects and the media are starting to get through, and with > better and better results. > Software companies are working with blind companies. > NOt gaming yet, but its only a matter of time now. > At 05:35 p.m. 17/02/2006, you wrote: >>Hi there, and thanks for the response, well I hope that the Jedi strike >>works out, this game has the potential to be a mega blast for blind >>gaming, >>not just because it's a kool concept, but just to tackle the Star Wars >>theme >>on a blind level is fantastic, don't let up, keep up the good work, I >>think >>sooner rather than later the great work that you blind programmers put in >>will be recognized and you will get your well deserved respect and >>recognition..
