Hi Sarah,
It is sad to say, but many sighted people don't even know blind people
can use computers let alone games. I remember being at a conference a
couple of years back with my headphones plugged in to my laptop, taking
down notes, and someone walked up to me and asked if I was blind.I
responded yes, and the very next question was how was I using the
computer without seeing what was on the screen.
I then had to go in to a discussion about Window Eyes and other screen
readers I was using to use that laptop.
Over the past couple of years I have showed sighted people SOD, Tank
Commander, Troopenum, and other games and everytime the responce was
something along the lines the person didn't know that was possible, or
that is amazing. "How do you do that with only sound?"
It seams most sighted people can't get past their eye-balls. They ignore
or miss many sounds we take for granted like hearing if something is
left or right, or pitch changes in targeting beeps.
