Hi,
Those are some good questions, but my main concern is writing the engine
so I don't have to use the graphical track and Monty level editors. That
has no effect what-so-ever on if the game has graphics in the actual
game. The game graphics would be *.bmp files that are loaded in to
DirectX buffers and then animated. Of course, beforeI can actually
include any graphics in Raceway I would have to first assess if I have
enough of them to complete the game. If I don't they would have to go
for the time being.
As for bringing new stuff to the table that isn't true. Raceway does
feature realistic physics moddling as well as high-quality ff wheel
support. Support that works better in DX 9 than in DX 8. Those are going
to be ported from the original engine to the new one.
Finally, the Raceway engine will have 3D sound which will add a rather
realistic sound to the game. I think it will hopefully live up
to it's original creation.
As for mistakes there are all kinds of small programming errors in the
Monty engine. One of the biggist is the fact it uses a visual editor I
can't use, and then the 3D audio while sounding good slows down proformence.
