You don't get a choice about the colour, they only come in red, black and 
white. There isn't any green, blue, yellow or orange. Sometimes the black is 
more grey than black apparently, they all look the same colour to me though.

One of the postings had a pretty good tip, to put black tape on the end of 
the white wire to indicate it to be hot. This may be code now, I have never 
seen it done but I am never into modern wiring either. I haven't seen green 
covering over ground wire here in Canada either but it was code to put a 
sleeve over the ground (earth) wire when I did a little wiring in England 
way back in 1971. I now see it referred to here but I don't know if it is 
code. They now also want the ground and all other lines to be pigtailed with 
a connector to the switch or what ever terminal in many places these days, I 
don't do it but I may be in breach of code.
