a good physical connection is necessary. With stranded wire, you may wish to expand the wire a bit, and then send the strands of one length into the strands head on, of the other length. Sometimes betterthan a twist or knot connection for solder flow.
The weller 90 watt solder station sure heats up fast and the tips are supposedly capable of 900f. So that's pretty fast for the 275f solders, and not bad for the 470f solders.
