The correct term is valve. If you used an air compressor to blow them out
last year, you may have to take the valve apart to see if there are any
broken parts inside. The valve may just screw off like a jar. There are
some rubber washers inside the valve, that the air compressor may have
displaced if too much pressure was used.

What kind of system is it? Is it an Orbit?

IF so, you can go to Orbitonline .com to get information and/or replacement
parts.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] automatic water sprinkler problem

Over the weekend my automatic water sprinkler system malfunctioned. After
going through the cycles, one bank stayed on. So I turned the knob to
manual, and it still wouldn't stop running water in the one bank. So I had
to turn the main water valve off leading to the house. The first time I
turned the main valve back on the water was still running through that one
bank. So I turned it off again, and tapped on the top of the knob for the
bad bank. I heard the solenoid if that's what it's called close. Turned
the water main back open and the water in that bank was no longer running.
Well, it happened again this morning, I had it set to manual where I had to
push a button to start the water through it's cycle. So it does it in both
automatic, and manual setting. So I'm quite sure it's not the automatic
sprinkler system itself, but something in the Knob where you'd turn it on
from outside where all the individual banks are located. How would I remedy
this situation? Please give me the correct terminology for what these parts
are. for instance, the proper name for the knob, the mechanism inside that
opens what ever allows the water to flow etc.
