Rick, so you have removed the blade guard from your circ saw, your table saw, and other safety features since you don't really need them as long as you are not an idiot. You can still do everything right and have an accident. No one is perfect. And when the lack of perfection comes with the price of losing fingers, some extra safety is well worth it. For years, skydivers used to complain about using automatic activation devices which initiate deployment of your reserve if you go too low while still in free fall. After a few very experienced skydivers bounced because of accidents that weren't of their own doing. and they could have been saved with an AAD, many more skydivers are using them now. And, deaths due to no pull or low pull have significantly decreased. I still submit that it is impossible to be 100% safe 100% of the time. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Carnegie Mellon University.
