Thanks Lenny, I went to  that  site  and got lots of good information.. 
The windows I have  are made of solid vinyl . at the  midway section of 
the   bottom edge  below the glass is a thin long tabe which normally is 
used to slide the window  up or down. However   because of   less than 
adequate   ability for same said sash  to slide  it apparently put to 
much pressure on that tab and it  snapped off,  thus, I believe broke 
the gas seal . since then we have installed the replacement sash , but I 
want to get a  can of that suggest  powdered   stuff to change how 
things move in all the windows. less friction means more damage in this
