The craftsman ratchets aren't bad especially the positive socket lock. it is
slower than cold tar but you don't go diving for a runaway socket, their end
wrenches on the other hand feel like war clubs to me.
Another one of my personal favorites is the CP 3/8 butterfly impact. I
worked the unit room for about two years and that thing was invaluable The
snap-on guy sold me on it when he backed his truck up to my stall, hooked
the gun up to shop air and started knocking lug nuts loose on his bud
wheels. I was a believer however, all of that torque and power comes at a
price. I think I have kitted that thing at least a half a dozen times since
1994.

I have the 12 inch 3/8 flex head in both Snap-on and Craftsman. I actually
have better luck with the Craftsman. I also have the quarter inch flex head
as well and I've busted that one more than I can remember. I love that
Bluepoint air ratchet. I need to rebuild mine again, but I've had that
thing since 84 or so and would hate losing it now...

Did you ever find a good alternative? I have had the same long handled 3/8
flex head now for about 20 years and I have never had any problems with
it.
I have on a couple of occasions pulled the guts out of there 1/4" standard
ratchet and of course my personal favorite their Blue Point 3/8" air
ratchet. *Can't beat flat-rate with out it*

The only thing they sell that isn't any good is their ratchet. I can shell
the teeth off of them without a whole lot of effort. My dealer used to
walk
the other way when he saw me coming with a ratchet.

I bought my first set of Snap-on wrenches in 1960 and that is when dad
  laid
that piece of wisdom on me. He was absolutely correct I still have that
  set
of wrenches although a couple of them have been replaced under warranty
  over
  the years.

I think there is another variation of that one..
Don't ask to borrow my tools and I won't ask to borrow your wife.

He must have made the decal I have on my tool box. "You can ask to borrow
my wife. But don't ask to borrow my Snap-On tools."

My dad used to tell me "lending your tools is just like lending your wife.
No matter how well you know the guy that borrowed her she's never quite
  the
same when you get her back."

I have a pouland, and apart from a number of problems at first caused by
  my
own inexperience, I have had a lot of joy from it. I would say that you
  are
just begging for accidents if you use a saw that, because of its size and
weight, you cannot handle: vis a vis: control easily!

The only very small accident I have had was caused by someone else to whom
  I
had lent my saw burning the clutch out and failing to tell me that they
  had
done so. The next time that I used the saw, when I released the throttle,
  I
expected the chain to stop moving, and I reached across it to get at
something on the far side and the still-whirling chain caught my wrist.
Fortunately, it was only a glancing blow!

Those are good saws. I didn't have a Stiehl but that's the brand that got
my finger... I know any time one came in the shop the owner never had a
  bad
thing to say about Stiehl. Now Homelite or McCullich or Pouland were
  different stories...

  Go for it...

I was the proud owner of a 24" Stihl for many years and it did everything
  I
  needed it to.

Almost always when I talk about chain saws sighted people around me kind
  of
friek out. They do the same when I talk about my table saw. I was at a
family Christmas party this week end and I started talking about the fact
that I have a table saw and a miter saw but I really would like to get a
circ saw. When they started going off about how that idea kind of bothered
them I finally stood my groung and smiled and said get over it. Now about
chain saws. I do not have a chain saw and I get the same story when I talk
about getting one. Every time I hear that I should not have a chain saw
  that
puts me that much closer to getting one.I think I am not alone in saying
that If you really want me to figure out some way to do some thing, Just
keep telling me I can't do it because "after all your blind you know."
