I bought my first set of Snap-on wrenches in 1960 and that is when dad laid that piece of wisdom on me. He was absolutely correct I still have that set of wrenches although a couple of them have been replaced under warranty over the years.

I think there is another variation of that one.. Don't ask to borrow my tools and I won't ask to borrow your wife. He must have made the decal I have on my tool box. "You can ask to borrow my wife. But don't ask to borrow my Snap-On tools." ----- Original Message ----- From: Larry Stansifer To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, December 10, 2007 7:56 AM Subject: RE: [BlindHandyMan] Chain saws. My dad used to tell me "lending your tools is just like lending your wife. No matter how well you know the guy that borrowed her she's never quite the same when you get her back." -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jewel Blanch Sent: Monday, December 10, 2007 5:01 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] Chain saws. I have a pouland, and apart from a number of problems at first caused by my own inexperience, I have had a lot of joy from it. I would say that you are just begging for accidents if you use a saw that, because of its size and weight, you cannot handle: vis a vis: control easily! The only very small accident I have had was caused by someone else to whom I had lent my saw burning the clutch out and failing to tell me that they had done so. The next time that I used the saw, when I released the throttle, I expected the chain to stop moving, and I reached across it to get at something on the far side and the still-whirling chain caught my wrist. Fortunately, it was only a glancing blow! Jewel From: Bob Kennedy To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, December 11, 2007 12:17 AM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] Chain saws. Those are good saws. I didn't have a Stiehl but that's the brand that got my finger... I know any time one came in the shop the owner never had a bad thing to say about Stiehl. Now Homelite or McCullich or Pouland were different stories... ----- Original Message ----- From: Larry Stansifer To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, December 10, 2007 6:08 AM Subject: RE: [BlindHandyMan] Chain saws. Go for it... I was the proud owner of a 24" Stihl for many years and it did everything I needed it to. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of robert moore Sent: Sunday, December 09, 2007 11:25 PM To: Blind Handyman Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Chain saws. Almost always when I talk about chain saws sighted people around me kind of friek out. They do the same when I talk about my table saw. I was at a family Christmas party this week end and I started talking about the fact that I have a table saw and a miter saw but I really would like to get a circ saw. When they started going off about how that idea kind of bothered them I finally stood my groung and smiled and said get over it. Now about chain saws. I do not have a chain saw and I get the same story when I talk about getting one. Every time I hear that I should not have a chain saw that puts me that much closer to getting one.I think I am not alone in saying that If you really want me to figure out some way to do some thing, Just keep telling me I can't do it because "after all your blind you know."
