Quite interesting, I just spoke to an engineer at the company to see if this thing could be made to talk. He will talk to the other people to see how difficult it would be. Now he gave me a quick way for the blind community to be able to check the level. All you would need is to get another clear cap that goes over the fuel gauge. Have someone cut part of it down and make notches where the 3/4 1/2 and 1/4 levels. Then to check unscrew the cap that is on and replace with the modified cap then you can feel the plunger and the marks of the fuel level. then replace the regular cap. He told me that if he had to do that it would be a cheap and easy solution. Ideally the fuel sensor upstairs would work best. ----- Original Message ----- From: Boyce, Ray To: blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2008 9:49 PM Subject: RE: [BlindHandyMan] New and questions about an oil gage

I am new here, well actually I have been here but it has been a while. I am familiar with this great list though. My wife Marie and I live in Osseo Wisconsin. we have an oil furnace. In order to see how much oil I have left in the barrel I unscrew that outer rim plastic ring around the oil gage cap and remove the ring. Then I touch the rod, that sticks up from where the cover was. Here is the problem. Our float is stuck down in the oil so the tank shows nearly empty, even after we fill it full. Is there a gage made for blind home owners that is either tactile, or readable in some way? Better still, we have a talking thermostat. I couldn't be so lucky as to find a talking gage, could I?
