Bill, I have no idea if you could use any router, in general, to do metal work. I would think you might want more horsies under the hood than this little router, and probably a half inch shank, possibly with special bits. Depends on how much metal you want to hog out. I mean, a milling center is sort of like a router on steroids. Or more like if a drill press and router hooked up at a bar and .. well .. you know what I mean.
