This candle has a pretty big flame, There are three thick wicks. The other
night when it was lit and placed on a table next to the porch swing I could
feel the heat. I presume that it is designed to get as much scent in the air
as possible.

Lenny,
This might be one of those things that is like the elephant in the
living room. The candle flame is not as big as you probably imagine.
I use candles, and if I am really concerned about them tipping over,
I set them in one of those candle holders that looks like a round
disk with a spike coming up out of the center. You force the candle
down over the spike. They have three legs so they are quite stable.
If you're still worried, set the whole thing in a pie pan or some
other sort of pan with water in it.

Now, if all of that sounds like too much trouble, if you have bounce
dryer sheets around, rub yourself and clothes with it and forget the
candles. One of my friends says that if she just puts the bounce
sheet on her person, that's enough to keep them away. The little
beasts fortunately don't like to bite me, but they do land on me,
thus giving me the opportunity to let them have a look at their insides.
Good luck,
Betsy
