I get the first run in place then use the tar line on the shingle to place the next run. The biggest concern is not to line up the slots or breaks in the shingle with the row below. On the first row I overlap the end of the next shingle with the one I just nailed in place. Then keep working to the end of the roof. When I start the second run I line the bottom edge up with the tar line on the shingle in place already and hang about half of the last 3rd or half of the third finger off the roof and nail it in place. I go back and trim that piece that is hanging over the edge and then continue with that row on the same spacing. I'm sure by now there have been a lot of different ideas, I'm getting home late and this is what works well for me. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ralph Supernaw To: blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, July 08, 2009 12:01 PM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Shingling the house
Hi, When shingling a roof, What do you use as a jig to line up the shingles across the roof? Thanks, Ralph [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
