Most probably you have burned out the compressor if the fridge isn't working at all. This is an expensive replacement and, depending on the age of the fridge it is probably more cost effective to replace the entire fridge particularly if that means upgrading to one of the more energy efficient models.
I once had a very big Kenmore with the cooling coils underneath and a fan to blow air over them. that fan developed a problem with a bearing which made a lot of noise so I got rid of it before moving. when I got here a friend had the same model and that fan too rattled like a modest diesel running in the kitchen when ever it was on. You may have been having a similar problem to the point where the fan seized up followed by the compressor overheating. Maybe the noise was just the compressor bearings going. The compressor though is a sealed unit so it all must be replaced. It is possible that something else is faulty like maybe the thermostat so it just never turns the compressor on in which case the noise you heard was not likely directly related to the failure of the fridge. Call a technician and risk the price of a house call then you can decide the cost of repair over the cost and benefit of replacement. ----- Original Message ----- From: Roy Dubriel To: blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, July 26, 2009 11:34 AM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] have a question regarding a refrigerater I have a question regarding a Kinmore freezer. It started to make a loud noise, witch I felt that because it is so hot here in florida;that everyone was using everything to keep cool, then the noise would go away. But after a month, it just stop working. Can someone tell me what I may do to fix it? O, I refused, last year to renew my warnty. That would be reason enough to replace it. ----- Original Message ----- From: Julio To: blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, July 25, 2009 3:48 PM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] have a question regarding a refrigerater yes I set it to cold so that my milk doesn't freez and then as i come back and check on the nob and it's on coldest 1 hour later and my milk eggs cheese and all other items are all frozen Julio Morones keyboardist for Los Pintores De La Cumbia Myspace page where you can check out tracks that I've sung and arranged. www.myspace.com/keyboardjulio Nickname Soda Pop email address jmoro...@ca.rr.com second email address and windows live messenger jmorone...@hotmail.com Skype jmorones03 Home phone 323-920-7374 mobile phone you can Text me as well 323-842-0136 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ---------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message.
