Joy, as for needing the better storm door. well our first house was
one built in the late 1700's and the way the previous owners to us
took care of a storm door on the front was they framed out like a
small mud room , leaving the original door intact and then the new
outer door was a metal door which one could install the glass or
screen.. One other door which we thought was a good winter door was
facing south and that had the original outer door which was wooden and
with a flat screw driver one could remove the glass pane insert and
for the summer install a screen section. all the windows, all 52 of
them had wooden storms and screens. . I was lucky enough to have the
previous owners to label each window and screen. such as L R North
front " etc. many times I miss that big ole house and the original
large hot water radiators. as I said previously I think there are some
yards around the country that have pieces of wood trim. whole doors
and more to match up. that being said. the problem is to find those
yards. i'll finish by saying a Uncle said to us when we lived there we
could make a fortune selling the house one board at a time. just from
the internal wood work which was wanes coating and the swirls in the
corners of each interior door. good luck. Lee

If it breaks, well, it wasn't working anyway...
