Betsy, I wouldn't bet on 1/4 inch plexi glass taking the weight of a chair and person. No weight implications intended! <GRIN> Especially if the carpet is thick, it might well crack. I'd ask the glass supplier what they thing. Lexan might do better but not sure of the price variations.
However plexi can surely be filed fairly easilly, or sanded. It will even take a block plane but you don't need that to round a corner. Tom Fowle
