I wonder if it is frequency related. Karen has a non talking one that just 
started acting up. Some neighbors just installed wireless internet 
connections.
Years ago when I was performing magic, I had a fairly expensive wireless 
microphone system.The FCC was kind enough to also issue baby monitors in the 
same frequencies. In the middle of a cancer benefit show, some woman started 
swearing at her husband to come and help her with the baby. From that point 
on I never extended the antenna and always was in a panic.
I do know that some cordless phones interfere with wireless modems.So the 
problem quite possibly is not in the temperature reporting system.

My guess is that these units are trying to work at the limits of there
wireless range. If possible get the two units closer together for a while
and see if it helps.

We have a non-talking similar unit and it has the same kinds of issues. We
got sick of it and gave up. I think the low power vs range  isues just ain't
solved properly yet.

Remember fowle's first rule of capitalism, It doesn't matter if it works,
it only matters if they can sell it.
