I've put them in before. They help a little with a hot attic. In order to
install them, you have to take off the ridge cap shingles, then cut the wood
for the roof. Only cut as deep as the wood is thick. About 4 inches or so on
either side of the ridge.
The vent comes in a large roll about 25 feet long I believe. There are some
differences in how you apply the vent so you'd have to read the instructions
for that brand. Then you cover the vent back over with shingles.
