Betsy, last summer we had a new roof put on and at the same time they
used a skill saw I think and cut out for the ridge vent. I had a section
in my hand which feels like a half round something and like others
have said there is a vent or something to block rain or snow to get
in. not sure if it will make a big difference but time will tell.. is
the roof of your house a shingled roof or is it another material? Lee
